History
Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Incorporated was founded on March 11, 1986, at California State
University, Chico. It is a growing organization that prides itself in its commitment to the
community, to achieving academic excellence, and above all, to sisterhood. As a National
sorority, it counts with 22 chapters throughout California, Colorado, Texas, and Nebraska.
Although it is primarily a Latina sorority, we have sisters from various ethnic and cultural
backgrounds.
Chapter History
In the Spring of 2001, a group of Latina women came together in search of a Latina-based
organization at Sonoma State University. In their search for the perfect organization to join,
they came across one that provides the opportunity to give back to the community as well as a
support group for academic excellence through sisterhood. They were an official interest group
for a year, and on November 3, 2002, eight beautiful Latinas established Upsilon Chapter of
Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc.
Purpose
The Purpose of Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. shall be to open doors of opportunity to the
Latinas of our community. Our primary focus is academic excellence and meeting the needs of
Latina women in higher education. Lambda Theta Nu Sorority also promotes the advancement of
Latinas through various campus activities and community services, and provides an environment
for personal growth within a unit of Sisterhood. Lambda Theta Nu Sorority's priorities,
however, will be placed upon academic excellence and community service.
