Our Mission
Sonoma State University's Black Student Union (BSU), has been a chartered student organization for over fifteen years. Our original mission to further the social and educational development of the university and its surrounding community through informational activities continues. Recently however, the club has taken on new responsibilities. During a time of declining retention and enrollment of black students to Sonoma State University, the Black Student Union seeks to form a strong and supportive community in which students, staff and local residents can thrive academically, socially and personally. In addition, the Black Student Union is dedicated to attracting students of color to the campus and promoting higher education to African American youth.
The Black Student Union Invites You!
Our meetings and events are open to everyone-- individuals interested in pursuing the mission of the Black Student Union are especially welcome. Involvement in the Black Student Union is an invaluable experience that fosters personal development and enables social interaction, extracurricular involvement and community service. Although everyone is welcome to meetings and events, certain benefits such as voting rights and free events are reserved for members who pay semester dues of five dollars.
Weekly Meetings
Black Student Union meetings for the Spring 2000 Semester are scheduled to take place every Thursday from 12:00pm - 1:00pm in the MultiPurpose Room of the Sonoma Student Union unless otherwise indicated.
