| The Constitution Article I Section 1. The official name for this organization is Beta Beta Beta, Chapter Omnicron Lambda. Article II Purpose The purpose of this organization shall be to function as an honor and professional society for biology students at Sonoma Stae University. Its activites shall be designed to stimulate interest, scholarly attainment, and investigation in the biological sciences, and to promote the dissemination of information and new interpretaions among students of the life sciences. The intent of this organization is to promote and organize activities, which will augment those of the Sonoma Stae Biology club, thereby expanding the range of activities available to interested students. It is out intent to avoid unnecessary overlap or competition with Biology Club functions. Article III Section 1. Membership is limited to registered students at Sonoma State University. Section 2. Membership is further limited
to those students who meet the criteria of the national Beta Beta Beta
society. Section 3. Dues for the membership in the national Beta Beta Beta society are $30(thirty dollars) for lifetime membeship. Payment shall be made to the chapter treasurer, who will forward membership fee to the national organization. Payment shall be made at the time of initiation Section 4. New members shall be initiated into the chapter once per semester or once per year as numbers warrant, according to the discretion of the chapter officers. Students who have applied for membership and meet the qualifications will be considered full members from the time of determination of their qualifications. Section 5. This chapter of Tribeta welcomes all those interested in membership without regard to race, religion, national origin, age, sex, or sexual preference. Article IV Officers Section 1. Tribeta officers are President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Historian. Section 2. All officers shall be elected by secret ballot of a quorum of the membership. Nomination of the officers shall be open for two weeks after elections are announced and posted. Section 3. All officers serve for one year, and shall be elected in the spring to serve the following school year. Section 4. The President presides at meetings and is a spokesperson for the club. The Vice-President presides in the President's absence. The secretary takes minutes of the meetings and deals with correspondence. The treasurer handles the financial affairs of the club. The Historian shall keep records of the club's activities, history, and membership. Article V Finance Section 1. The Treasurer authorizes and is accountable for financial transactions and keeps the accounts. Section 2. Banking is through the Associated Students. Article VI Meetings and Committees Section 1. There will be bi-monthly meetings; dates and times will be posted. Section 2. There must be at least two officers and four other members present for an official meeting and to make decisions final and binding. Section 3. Committees will be formed as necessary with committee chair appointed by the President and other members signing up on a voluntary basis.
Section 1. Any club member may present a written amendment to an officer for presentation during an official meeting. Section 2. A two-thirds majority vote of the members present at an official meeting is required for passage of an amendment. Article VIII Enabling Clause Section 1. This constitution shall take
effect after approval by two-thirds majority vote of the members present
at an official meeting.
