Alpha Gamma Delta

Alpha Gamma Delta is an international women’s fraternity that promotes academic excellence, philanthropic giving, ongoing leadership and personal development and above all, a spirit of loving sisterhood. Guided by our Purpose, Alpha Gamma Deltas strive to attain a higher standard, thereby improving their lives, the lives of those around them and the communities in which they live. Together, we continually work to inspire the woman and impact the world.

Welcome to the Delta Rho Chapter

We are the lovely ladies that make up the Delta Rho chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta at Sonoma State University. 72 wonderful, amazing, and classy girls make up our chapter. In November of 2007 we welcomed 35 newly initiated members, one of our biggest pledge classes to date. We are a fun loving group of girls who have come together to form friendships and bonds of sisterhood that will last a lifetime.

Our Purpose

The Alpha Gamma Delta Purpose, with its illuminated border, is a gift from Founder Emily Butterfield. It remains unchanged from the day it was written. The Purpose, contemporary and constant, is an open statement of goals and a constant reminder of what we, as individual members of Alpha Gamma Delta, strive to achieve throughout our lives.

Philanthropies

As Alpha Gams we are very involved in our community. Going out once a month to make the community a safer, happier place brings us closer not only with each other but, more importantly, with the community that we live in. We complete at least one philanthropy each month in order to help make a difference and to contribute to the world's work. We realize that there are always going to be problems in the world that need serious attention yet, by taking small steps at a time, we try our hardest to do what we can to make things even a little better.

Some of the events we traditionally take part in is the JDRF- Walk to Cure Diabetes that takes place during October on a Vineyard in Napa. Over the past three years we have donated over $6,000 to this organization. Another event that we traditionally take part in is Great Strides, a walk that helps raise money for, and awareness about, cystic fibrosis. This year we sponsored a young girl suffereing from Cystic Fibrosis. Our Philanthropy coordinator challenged us to raise $2,000 for this girl. Not only did we raise that money, but as a chapter we were able to raise more that $3,000 for her and her family.

We also host an annual event on campus called Lip Jam. All of the proceeds from this event are donated to the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. Last year our girls were able to raise $7,000 from this event, and this year we are hoping to raise that amount to $8,500!!
