March 17, 2000 - In a game between two very good lacrosse teams with two excellent goalies, the Sonoma State Cossacks battled back from a 5-3 halftime deficit to beat UC Berkeley 9-7 on Friday night. The score was 7-7 at the end of the 3rd quarter but the SSU defense, captained by goalie and game MVP Pat Ferguson, was able to blank the Bears in the 4th quarter and pull away for the win. With hundreds of chanting fans and three lead changes, the game lived up to the expectations of a #1 vss #2 matchup. In addtion to the outstanding play of Ferguson, the Cossacks were led in scoring by Ben Alexander who finished with 3 goals and 1 assist.
