SSU Ranked #2 in USLIA Pre-Season Poll

December 2, 1999 - The United States Lacrosse Intercollegiate Associates ranked Sonoma State University #2 in today's 2000 Pre-Season Poll. After having a respectable showing at the 1999 National Championships where the Cossacks lost an exciting, yet disappointing 11-12 game to eventual champion Colorado State in the semi-finals, coupled with the loss of only a few players, many pollsters feel that SSU will again be a contender for the title in 2000. Not surprisingly, Colorado State is ranked #1, however, 1999 runner-up Simon Fraser fell to #3, even though it dismantled UC Berkeley 21-11 in the 1999 national semi-finals and played very well in the finals. Rounding out the top five are #4 BYU and #5 UC Berkeley.

Sonoma State plays BYU at home on February 19th, Colorado State at home on March 4th, and at UC Berkeley on March 17th in games that will all have national championship ramifications.
