SSU 23 - Cal Poly 3

April 11, 2000 - SSU survived a very determined and well-coached UCSB team on Saturday and was lucky to escape with a 9-7 win over the Gauchos. Sunday was a different story as SSU beat up Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 23-3 in a game highlighted by flag-happy officiating that hampered the aggressive defense of the Mustangs and led to several extra-man goals for the Cossacks.

The game ball for the Santa Barbara Game was awarded to John Minan who successfully made the transition from midfield to attack before the game and played brilliantly. Defenseman Joel Overly played a near flawless game against Cal Poly's potent attack to earn game ball honors in Sunday's game.
