As told by Abe, club historian (2001-2002)

Friendship Games is an all-day event. To summarize things, we did very well for a school that only had a handful of people to compete. We left Days Inn in Anaheim before the sun rose to drive to Fullerton and register our school for the competition.

The first event we participated in was "The Nasty," a relay race that involved racing down the field, carrying a metal bar between your legs and trading it with the next person in line without using your hands.

The next event was the "Conveyor Belt," which involved a line of players laying on the grass, rolling the "package" to the end of the field. Having a light person is preferrable, which is why Rowena was chosen to be our package.

The "Tidal Wave" was took place right after. The object of this game was to pass a water-filled bucket (riddled with holes) over your head and to your partner and dump its contents into a measuring container. Everyone dressed down for this game and were ready to take on the other schools. Once we got the green light, everyone scrambled to pass the bucket over their head. Nelson and Rowena slipped in this event, but that didn't stop us, for we took first place over all the schools in that division!

For "Alpine Green," two wooden beams were placed on the ground and the object of this game was to race across the field with your feet tethered to a set of "skiis." We had some of our stronger (and taller) teammates take part in this one.

The very last event was the "Groundhog." By the time it was all over, we ended up placing seventh out of the thirty-something schools in Friendship Games. Not bad for a school who had only a handful of people to compete...
